Connecting Public Safety Radios with IP devices

Winmate solves interoperability challenges with RG100 with voice and radio interoperability in a single tiny box. By connecting up to two donor radios directly to the RG100, users can instantly bridge the gap between disparate radio networks, endpoints, or frequencies, allowing seamless communications between organizations.

  • What is the primary function of the Winmate RG100?

The RG100 is a RoIP (Radio over IP) Gateway. Its main function is to bridge the communication gap between traditional Land Mobile Radios (LMR) and modern IP networks (LTE/Wi-Fi). It converts analog/digital radio voice signals into IP data packets, allowing radios to communicate with smartphones, tablets, or dispatch consoles over the internet.

  • What operating system does the RG100 run?

It runs on the Android operating system.

    • Benefit: This open platform allows for the installation of various third-party Push-to-Talk (PTT) applications (e.g., Zello, Motorola WAVE, TeamSpeak) and custom dispatch software, providing a flexible and user-friendly interface.
  • Who is the target user for this device?

It is designed for Mission-Critical Communications in sectors like Public Safety (Police, Fire, EMS), Logistics/Fleet Management, Mining, and Utilities. Any organization that needs to extend radio coverage beyond the range of a radio tower will benefit from the RG100.

  • How does the RG100 connect to a traditional radio?

The device features specialized Radio Interface Ports. Using a dedicated cable kit, it physically connects to a mobile radio unit (e.g., Motorola, Kenwood, Icom). The RG100 then takes control of the radio's audio input/output and PTT triggering.

  • What network options are available for data transmission?

The RG100 ensures continuous connectivity via:

    • 4G LTE: For wide-area communication in moving vehicles.
    • Wi-Fi: For depot or station-based connectivity.
    • Ethernet: For fixed installations in command centers.
  • Can it connect different types of radios together?

Yes. By converting voice to IP, the RG100 can act as a bridge. For example, it can allow a UHF radio user to speak to a VHF radio user, or allow both to communicate with a user on a smartphone app anywhere in the world.

  • Is the RG100 rugged enough for in-vehicle use?

Yes. It is certified to MIL-STD-810H standards for shock and vibration resistance and holds an IP67 rating for protection against dust and water. It is built to withstand the harsh vibrations of emergency vehicles, trucks, and heavy machinery.

  • Does it include a display screen?

Yes, it features a built-in Touchscreen. This allows operators to easily configure network settings, change radio channels, or view the status of the PTT application directly on the gateway, eliminating the need for an external laptop for basic adjustments.

  • How is the device powered?

It supports a wide 9V to 36V DC power input, compatible with standard vehicle power systems (12V/24V).

    • Key Feature: It includes Ignition Sense, which automatically turns the device on when the vehicle starts and initiates a safe shutdown when the engine is turned off, protecting the vehicle battery.
  • What are the main benefits of using the RG100 over a standard radio repeater?

    • Unlimited Range: It uses the internet/LTE, so range is global, not limited by radio towers.
    • Lower Cost: It is often cheaper than building new physical radio infrastructure.
    • Cross-Platform: It connects radios to smartphones and PCs, modernizing the entire communication fleet.
